Nestled between the Alps and the Mediterrenean, Slovenia is tiny in size but very popular among tourists. Beautiful coastal resorts, towering mountains, sparkling lakes, and charming towns, which beckon visitors to flock to this newly independent country year round.  The high cliffs along the Adriatic coast are a feast for the eyes.

Ljubljana, situated on the Ljubljanca River, is the capital and largest city in Slovenia. Unlike, other East European cities, Ljubljana is a classy town with beautiful buildings. On a visit, be sure to explore Old Town, especialy for the Ljubljana Castle, perched atop a wooded hill. The Cathedral of St. Nicholas with its striking bronze doors is worth a visit, too.

If you want a taste of nightlife, Maribor is the place for you. Located on the Austrian border, this is the second largest city in Slovenia, and swarming with restaurants, cafes, theaters, museums and art-galleries. Slovenia is also famous for its castles such as Bled Castle and Ptuj Castle. The Škocjan Caves in the Kras region can’t be missed either.

Slovenia offers plenty of opportunity for outdoor activities year round. During summers, you’ll enjoy plenty of engaging activities such as hang-gliding, ballooning, hiking, bicycling and golf. Winters beckon visitors with cross-country skiing, sledging and skating. The skiing resorts of Kranjska, Bled, Cerkno, Gora, Rogla and Vogel and Krvavec are just irresistible!
