San Marino

An independent state of Italy, bordered by the Italian regions of Emilia-Romagna and Marche, San Marino is renowned as one of the oldest republics in the world, with its history dating from 301 AD. Mount Titano, the highest elevation of the country, was the only component of San Marino until the Pope allotted to it the towns of Fiorentino, Serravalle and Montegiardino in the 14th century.

Visit the capital city, San Marino, which is perched atop the three-peaked Mount Titano. There are several churches, museums, ancient forts and palaces to explore and you won’t be disappointed! Don’t miss the 14th century San Francesco Museum, the Museum of Contemporary Art, and the National Museum. These give valuable insight into the archaeological and artistic genius of the country.

If you love Formula One motor racing, Imola is where you should go! San Marino's Formula One Grand Prix motor race draws some of the top racers to this city. Imola is also home to top sports car manufacturers like Ferrari, Maserati and Lamborghini.
