With history gilded by the remnants of its Roman, Ottoman and Yugoslav past, modern Bosnia and Herzegovina is one of the most exciting countries in the Balkans. Visoko and the central Bosnia region are well known for their leather work. The romantic town of Mostar, with its old bridge built on the Neretva River, is popular tourist destination in the country. Other popular places include Neum, one of the famous sea towns nestled on the Adriatic sea coast, the Bosnian Pyramid of The Sun, the city of Medjugorje, which is famous for Christian pilgrimage, and the Muslibegovic House, which showcases decor from the Ottoman period.

For the outdoorsy traveler, there are fantastic opportunities for river rafting, swimming and of course, skiing.
