Denmark

The smallest and southernmost of the Scandinavian countries, Denmark was once the seat of Viking raiders and, later, a major north European power. The mainland is located north of its only land neighbor, Germany, southwest of Sweden, and south of Norway. Today, like its neighbors, Denmark has evolved into a modern and prosperous nation.

Denmark beckons visitors with an abundance of picturesque villages and towns, historic castles and monuments. It’s long coastline is dotted with several silky soft sand beaches, which are a delight for leisure travelers. With such a long coastline, it’s not surprising that Denmark’s economy, to a large extent, is reliant on shipping and fishing. Denmark offers five major cities to its visitors- Copenhagen, Aarhus, Odense, Aalborg and Esbjerg.

Explore the Danish cities for their plazas, statues, fountains, gardens, and open-air markets. Stop by the little cafes for a sip of coffee. You can’t resist the delicious pastries! Denmark is famous for its dairy products. No wonder, the real taste of teh country is its butter and cheese!

Copenhagen, the capital city, is one of loveliest cities in Scandinavia. Visitors are attracted to its historical monuments and outstanding galleries. While you’re in town, be sure to visit the Viking Ship Museum, which is dedicated to the bold ancient mariners. Other special attractions include the annual summer music festival in Roskilde, Tivoli gardens amusement park and the statue of the Little Mermaid. Aarhus is a lively university town comprising of schools and colleges, and is dominated by a young crowd. The most interesting spots here are the Museum of Prehistory, the Old Town museum, the Vikingemuseet and the progressive Women's Museum. Tourist attractions in Odense include the Hans Christian Andersen Museum, the Danish Railway Museum and the Odense Zoo.
