The smallest and southernmost of the Scandinavian countries, Denmark was once the seat of Viking raiders and, later, a major north European power. Other special attractions include the annual summer music festival in Roskilde, Tivoli gardens amusement park and the statue of the Little Mermaid. Aarhus is a lively university town comprising of schools and colleges, and is dominated by a young crowd. The most interesting spots here are the Museum of Prehistory, the Old Town museum, the Vikingemuseet and the progressive Women's Museum. Tourist attractions in Odense include the Hans Christian Andersen Museum, the Danish Railway Museum and the Odense Zoo.
